The Parent Plus LoanThe Ohio The Ohio UniversityUniversity program was created to assist families who need financial help paying for college expenses. If you qualify, you may be eligible to receive money for tuition, fees, books, supplies, and equipment. To apply for funds, you have to meet these three requirements:

You are thethe parent or legal guardian of an active student at Ohio University. Your child is enrolled full time (at least 12 credit hours per semester) or part-time (at least 6 credit hours per semester). You are not currently receiving any assistance for your student’s education from a private lender, an educational loan servicer, or any other government agency.

Your family’sfamily’s income does not exceed $60,000 annually. However. However, if your household makes less than $20,000 each year, your household’s annual income cannot exceed $40,000.

If you meet all of the above requirements, you may be able to request up to $1,200 for your child’s education. The amount you receive will depend on how much you owe on your student loans, the number of credit hours your student attends each semester, and your state’s average monthly cost of attendance.

What Is Parent Plus?

The Parent Plus program is designed to address the unique challenges faced by parents of college students. Parents often have trouble balancing work and family responsibilities, making them less able to provide their children with financial assistance. Additionally, some families may not qualify for student loan programs due to income limitations. Since parental contributions are considered taxable income, many parents do not qualify for federal aid programs. Therefore, financial support provided by parents becomes an increasingly critical need among our nation’s youth.

How Does It Work?

Who can applycan apply?

All parents of full-time undergraduate students are eligible to apply. Students who are married and/or have dependents under 18 yearsof age of age may not be eligible. In addition, if you are receiving any type of public assistance (food stamps, Medicaid, etc.), you may not be qualified. Students cannot be enrolled in the Parent Plus Program if they are in default on any federal student loansfederal student loans.
