Indiana State University Parent Plus Loan
The Indiana State Parent PLUS Loan program was established in 1984. Its purpose is to allow individuals who wish to attend ISU a chance to pay their tuition in full without the need to borrow money. Anyone enrolled at an accredited institution in Indiana may qualify for this loan. The minimum amount of loan requested is $3,000 and the maximum loan amount is $30,000 per year. Students must be able to show proof of financial aid and have been accepted to begin classes before applying for the loan. No interest payments are required until the student’s graduation date. The repayment period for the loan lasts five years (60 months) after the student graduates.
Application Process
To apply for a parent PLUS loan, students should start the application process by visiting the school’s website. After selecting your specific university, click on “Financial Aid” and then select “Parent PLUS Program”.
Once inside the application, fill out the information section. You will want to list your name, address, and current income. Next, enter your anticipated monthly expenses and any funds that you plan to make use of toward your education. Finally, calculate the total amount that you will need to borrow. If you meet the minimum criteria, your application will be reviewed and approved. In some cases, you may not receive approval right away and may be told to apply again later.
Repayment Period
After you graduate, you will owe back taxes for the time spent getting your degree. However, you won’t have to pay back a penny for 5 years. After that, interest starts to accumulate and will increase each month. Your monthly payment would be around 2% of your original loan amount plus interest.
