What do I do to request my loan status?

You need to login and go to “My Account” under the “My Info” tab on the Navient website. Once logged in, select “Loan Status” in the top right corner. You have two options to check your loan information: online and via phone. You can choose either one, depending upon how comfortable you feel. If you prefer to use the phone, simply enter your account number and the last four digits of your SSN in the “Request Loan Status” section.

What should I do if I am not receiving mail or text messages about my payments?

If you don’t receive any mail or text message regarding your payment, please call us at 800-831-0152.

Will my loan become delinquent if I miss a few payments?

No! Your loan will not go delinquent if you make late payments. However, if you default on your payments, your loan may become delinquent. Defaulting on your payments means that you don’t pay on time even though you know when you are supposed to make your payment. If this happens, your loan will be sent to a collection agency. In that case, you will get a letter from the collection agency telling you that their company will be contacting you about the overdue balance. If they cannot reach you, they will send it to your school. If your school finds out that you haven’t paid, they could ask you to leave school. In some cases, your loans may eventually be turned over to a private collection agency.
