I am currently attending cosmetology school right now, and I have been searching for a job in the field since I graduate. I want to become an esthetician! I’m really interested in working at a spa, especially if they offer discounts or free treatment’s. It would be really exciting to work somewhere where I get a discount, and I can feel good about myself knowing I helped someone look their best while receiving a reward.
I live in the Bay Area, California. I pay $600 a month for rent, and my average meal costs me around $15-$20 per day. My current job pays $8/hour, and after taxes I make a little over $500. This doesn’t even take into account any bonuses or raises. I don’t know what kind of jobs are out there, but I am willing to do anything just to earn enough money to survive.
If anyone knows of anywhere that offers jobs as a cosmetologist, please let me know! Thanks!
Student Loans Cosmetology School
In order to learn cosmetology school, a student must have access to many different forms of financial aid. Since cosmetology school costs thousands of dollars, grants and scholarships are not enough to cover these expenses alone. The best way to finance cosmetology school is through student loans. A lot of people think they cannot afford cosmetology school without help from their parents. However, student loans work for anyone who wants to go to cosmetology school. In fact, if you want to get a job right out of college, this is the best time to take out a loan. If you are thinking about taking out a student loan, here are some things to keep in mind.
-There are no hidden fees other than interest. You know exactly what you will pay at the end of each payment period until the total amount of money borrowed is repaid back completely.
-You always know how much you can borrow. Lenders do not try to trick borrowers into borrowing more than they need.
-Most schools offer repayment programs. Students can choose to make payments over a set number of years, after graduation, or even after they start working.
-If you miss a few payments, lenders may not report that information to credit bureaus. When you are ready for a cosmetology school loan consolidation, you can use the information from your missed payments to improve your credit score.
-Loan options vary greatly based on the type of school you attend. There are federal loans and private student loans. Federal loans are guaranteed by the U.S. Department of Education, so you can depend on them if you have trouble paying. Private student loans are offered by banks and credit unions. Most schools offer both types of loans.
-Federal loans are free to apply for and require little paperwork. Private loans often require extensive documentation, including copies of transcripts, proof of grades, and letters of recommendation. However, the application process for both types of loans is generally simple and fast, and you will receive approval within days.
-Once you decide to take out a student loan, you should shop around for the best rate and terms. Use the lender’s website to compare rates online. You can save hundreds of dollars by doing this research before applying for a loan.
-When looking for a cosmetology loan, be sure the school is accredited by the National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences (NACCS). Schools that meet NACCS standards provide students with career training they need to succeed in the business world.
-You will also want to look at the school’s accreditation status. Only schools that are fully accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) can guarantee that graduates will enter the workforce prepared to perform. Your state’s department of education may also approve specific programs.
-The last thing you want to worry about is finding the perfect place to study. Look for schools located near where you live. You should consider distance from home when deciding where to enroll. A good location will give you flexibility to work while attending classes.
