Since its founding, NC State University has been home to many notable alumni, including physicist Stephen Hawking, author Tim O’Brien, and composer Robert Irving III. North Carolina Office of Education Finance & Accountability
The North Carolina Office of Education Financing & Accountability is responsible for overseeing the financial management of public schools in the state. It has oversight authority and control over public education funding in North Carolina. It works closely with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction and the local school boards to ensure accountability for how funds are spent. The office administers federal grant money, which is given to states based on student performance. In addition, the agency helps oversee federal formula grants awarded to school districts.
North Carolina General Assembly.
North Carolina’s legislative branch consists of two branches known as the North Carolina Senate and House of Representatives. Members are elected by their constituents every two years, though some members may serve four-year terms. Elections take place throughout the year, with primary elections occurring in May and general elections occurring in November. All seats in both chambers are apportioned according to population.
North Carolina Teachers’ Association
The North Carolina Teachers Association (NCTA) represents teachers in pre-service teacher education, K–12 educators, higher education faculty, and administrators. NCTA serves as the voice for the profession, advocates for quality teaching and learning, promotes excellence in public education, and encourages diversity and social justice.
North Carolina Department of Public Safety and Crime Control
The North Carolina Department of Crime Statistics and Research (DCSR) is charged with collecting crime statistics, performing research on criminal activity, and providing information on the effectiveness of law enforcement agencies around the state. While the department does not have jurisdiction over law enforcement, it provides valuable statistical data regarding crimes committed across the state. There are twenty-one judicial supervisory districts comprising the court division; these districts each consist of several counties. Within each district, there is one superior court, one circuit court, thirteen county courts, five magistrate’s courts, and various specialized juvenile and domestic relations courts. The courts are organized geographically into twelve regions, or Superintendents’ Divisions, including the Capital Region (the region surrounding Raleigh), Eastern Division (including Wake County), Central Division (including Mecklenburg County), Western Division (including Durham County), Southern Division (including Brunswick County), Northern Division (including Beaufort County), Southwestern Division (including Moore County), Northeastern Division (including Cumberland County), Southeastern Division (including Edgecombe County), Mid-Atlantic Division (including Cabarrus County), Coastal Plain District (including Dare County), and Rocky Mount District (including Nash County).
North Carolina Democratic Party.
The North Carolina Democratic Party is the oldest political party in the United States and has existed since 1792, making it one of the oldest parties in the world. Throughout much of the nineteenth century, the party represented the interests of white farmers and agricultural laborers. However, after World War II, they began expanding into urban communities, where they became a major force in African American politics. Over time, the party shifted away from its traditional base among whites and towards supporting civil rights movements and liberal economic policies. Today, the party remains the dominant party in the eastern half of the Tar Heel State.
NC State Student Loans
There are many forms of student loans today. Most people know about federal loans. However, there are private and state-based student loan options. Private loans are offered by banks or companies, while state loans are offered by the school system. These two types of loans have their own pros and cons, and knowing how they work can help you decide whether they’re right for you.
Federal student loans
Federal student loans cannot be discharged in bankruptcy unless you were defrauded or willfully misrepresented information when applying. This means that once you graduate, your debt is paid off. However, federal loans do not always mean low rates. You may pay between 2% and 5%, depending on your income level and credit history.
Non-dischargeable
Non-dischargeability laws apply to federal loans only if federal law says so. A non-dischargeable federal loan is one where your lender can collect any money that you owe them even after you graduate. Also, these loans can have high interest rates and fees that can add up over time.
Disadvantages
One disadvantage is that you won’t be able to get rid of the loan until at least 30 years after graduation. Another drawback is that certain states don’t have non-dischargeable laws, meaning you could still end up paying thousands in student loan debt long after college is done.
Advantages
The biggest advantage is that federal student loans do not have repayment terms. Your payments are set up the same way every year, regardless of what kind of job you land. If you make $60,000 per year, then you will pay $600 per month, no matter what. Even though this doesn’t sound appealing, it helps students who are moving away from home to start building a stable career.
6 State-Based Loan Options
State-based loans can vary based on the type of school you go to, your major, and your financial need. Generally, if you attend community college for two years, you’ll receive some sort of state-based loan. Otherwise, you’ll likely receive a federal loan. State-based loans can be either dischargeable or non-dischargeable. Non-dischargeables are similar to federal loans, except they aren’t automatically forgiven in bankruptcy.
Disadvantage
If your loan isn’t dischargeable, it means you won’t always be protected from collection agencies. Depending on the state, lenders may be allowed to take legal action against you and garnish wages.
